[diem's list] end of march/april

Greetings y'all! The end of March is near, and there are just a few things to let you know about:

1) Vote for SomaFM! (now)
2) Vote for Beehive! (now)
3) Utilikilts 7-year itch (March 31)
3) Z-trip! (April 6th)
4) I'm getting hitched! (April 21st)
5) Flight To Mars Presents: Skylab (April 21st)
7) How to get off this crazy list

What is somaFM? If you haven't heard it, check this:

and click on "groove salad".

I've been listening for *years* to this station, commercial-free, and it's practically the soundtrack to my house. With *no* thanks to the bastards at the RIAA, soma fm and all independent internet radio stations will be priced out of existence. PLEASE, go to their homepage and read the article and write your senator---and do this now. Seriously folks, this is important to me and SOMA needs your help!

Beehive? Who the heck is The Beehive? Only the best rocktronica evah. Alethea programs Ableton and Reason, and slams it out live while singing and controlling deuling laptops, and Dave plays guitars (including a wicked slide guitar) and sings. This duo makes music you've never heard--there is *no* comparison. They are so unique, that for the CMJ awards they were nominated for THREE different categories! YES YES! So, I want you to vote for them, por favor...Here's their info:
------------------------
First we would like to invite you to vote for Beehive at the CMJ sponsored contest "Ourstage"

Beehive is the only band to be finalists in three different categories: Rock, Alternative and Pop! We also ended the semifinals with a number one spot in categories of Rock and Alternative. However with competitions like this, a number one spot can change at any moment and we need your vote to help us win this competition.

To get more info about this competition- sign up for your free account here at www.ourstage.com/go/cmj. There you can find detailed instruction for text voting and you can also hear and see all the bands participating in this competition.

When you decided to vote for Beehive,  we ask that you vote for the songs "Better than Lies" in the Alternative category off of our new album "Pretty Little Thieves" which will be available May 2007  and/or for the song "One" in the Rock category from 'Cycle A" .

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The code to text message your vote for "Better than Lies" is ALT01.

The code to text message for "One"  ROCK07

Which is then sent to the number 78243 (which spells STAGE)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

You can text vote as often as you like, but please keep in mind that voting costs 50 cents for each text, which Ourstage says helps to pay for the prizes.
The text messaging competition begins at midnight EST March 27th 2007 and ends March 31st 2007 at Midnight EST (Thats 9 PM Seattle Time)

We thank everyone who supported us to make it to the finals! It's an honor to be here and thank you for being our friends and fans!!

\<>/ \<>/ \<>/ \<>/ \<>/ \<>/ \<>/ \<>/ \<>/ \<>/ \<>/ \<>/ \<>/ \<>/ \<>/ \<>/ \<>/ \<>/ \<>/ \<>/

I was not sure you had gotten an invite before, but I wanted to make
sure that you knew that Utilikilts will be throwing a 7 Year Itch
Party on March 31, 2007. Not only will this party be to celebrate
each and every person who supported us in our first 7 years, but it
will also help to usher us into a new era. It will serve as the
official grand opening of our Pioneer Square Flagship Store, our
adventure into wholesale, and our dedication to taking our company to
the next level while still embracing our original ethos and staying
true to our values.

First and foremost, you are invited to attend!  Bring yourself, bring
your family, bring your friends, and join us for food and drinks!
There will be live bands, DJs, burlesque dancers, fire performers,
NANDA the amazing acrobaticalists, circus performers, Freaks, Geeks,
a stripper clown who also does balloon animals (for real!), and all
the magical mayhem that we can cook up.  This is our Big One, the
Real Deal, the Party to Put All Parties to Shame, and it won't be the
same if you're not there.  This is the biggest thing to happen to us
in a long time, for a long time, and you will be missed if you are
not in attendance.  Please RSVP and let me know whether or not you
will be able to make it.

It would break my heart if you did not come to enjoy yourself,
especially if you came to hang out for awhile, and there are some
major slots for a few honorary performers left...would you be willing
to play? Utilikilts, and of course, myself personally, would love to
hear a DJ Diem set. There is a pretty substantial list running
between 8pm and 10pm, but we want this place to be FILLED with
performers, presentations, and projects...and people to stick around
make an event of the night.

Z-trip is a dj's dj. There are only four dj's I would ever say you *must* see -- Fatboy Slim, Steve Lawler, Nick Warren, and Z-trip. Z-trip is the progenator of the mash-up, laying down *anything* that was pressed onto vinyl (from Beatles to Beethoven). He is a showman, and puts on one hell of a show....
Last Supper Club
4-6-07
11pm
$10, but if you get there early it's free.....!

I'll be there at 9pm, in the first booth.

It's true, I'm getting hitched! Angel and I are sneaking off to Big Island, Hawaii, and will be married at sunset (6:48pm) on April 21st. We are then staying for the next weekend for ReBirth, the Hawaii Burning Man regional event. It's held in a jungle clearing outside Hilo, and man, I can't wait. Got some money burning a hole in your pocket? Join us:

\<>/ \<>/ \<>/ \<>/ \<>/ \<>/ \<>/ \<>/ \<>/ \<>/ \<>/ \<>/ \<>/ \<>/ \<>/ \<>/ \<>/ \<>/ \<>/ \<>/

My Burning Man theme camp, Flight To Mars, is more than just that. Last year we voted to go year round, with projects of all kinds. We were lucky to be given every third Saturday at the Lower Level bar in CHAC. The inaugural event features Beehive (from above), as well as opener J Lo and closer Mr. Faux Faux. If I wasn't in Hawaii getting married, this is where I'd be. Since it is F2M, you *know* this is more than a bar night. Get decked out and come check it out!

Want off? No worries. The info on how to get off the list (and any list for that matter) is below....Thanks for reading!

to sit up and take note of. So here's the menu:

1) Thanks!
2) Four Seasons This Saturday March 10th

Thanks for those who came out and attended my first ever photo show.
I am learning a lot, and it was interesting watching the crowd. I
sold one, and was delighted to see that! More shows will come, i
promise....

*************************************************

Just what is Four Seasons? Four Seasons is the third event produced
by Dale Phurrough's Social Living Productions. Dale spends months
preparing for each show, and it shows. Each piece performed is a
choreographed spectacle to behold. The last two shows, Tokyo 2025,
and Tokyo 2025 the revenge transformed Barca with 3 stages and
amazing dancers, food, bands, and dj's.

Here's his mission statement:

This show features more performances, and also Lee Coombs, legendary
electronic producer and dj from England (!). It's $10 at Neumo's THIS
SATURDAY March 10th. Rarely do I say the words "get there early", but
this time around you should heed my warning. You really, truly don't
want to miss the early performances. I'll be there at 9pm with my
bunny ears on.

*************************************************

Dirty Martinez Radio Show

I host the DMRS, and we are on show 16! Yeowza! We have local people
bring in one hour of whatever they want to play, from surf punk to
country, to 60's french spy jazz to boomin' beats. The second hour is
a live PA, band, or dj who is local, awesome, and fun.

Monday, March. 12th
ToST Lounge, Seattle, WA.
